Every year, Lake Simcoe produces exactly one rogue wave that’s about six inches taller than all the others. Scientists have no idea why. Locals have named it “Derek” and track its movements like a celebrity sighting.
Last summer, Derek knocked over a lawn chair in Keswick. The chair’s owner described it as “the most exciting thing to happen since the Zhers got self-checkout.”
