Back in the early 1900s, Jackson’s Point was such a hotspot for summer visitors that steamships used to bring crowds from Toronto right to the pier for a weekend of dancing at the lakeside pavilion. Imagine Instagram back then — it would’ve been nothing but straw hats, suspenders, and lake views.

Welcome back to our second edition of Georgina Digest! Thanks to everyone who read and shared last week’s launch — it’s clear our town loves staying connected.

Local Updates

Library expansion plans moving ahead

The Georgina Public Library is moving forward with its expansion at the Keswick branch, with construction expected to start later this year. The project includes new community space and updated study areas.

Public art in our neighbourhoods

Have you spotted the colourful Indigenous-inspired public art pieces around town? Works like Nanabush in Keswick and Old Fox Woman in Sutton celebrate local heritage and creativity.

Slower streets coming?

The Town is reviewing speed limits on some of our busiest roads in Keswick and Sutton. Consultations are planned for later this fall.

Automated speed enforcement camera relocated

The Town is moving five automated speed cameras to new locations this month as part of road safety improvements.
