Snow isn’t actually white, each tiny ice crystal is clear. It just looks white because light bounces around in a million directions.
Kind of like Georgina in November: lots of little things, shining all at once.
From Workshops to Whoville: Georgina Slides Into Holiday Mode
Remembrance Day is behind us and now Georgina is leaning into holiday season energy, think creative workshops, swim-for-donations nights, and one of our most loved street festivals: Whoville on High Street.
💡 Why it matters
Town-run events are ramping up, from food-drive swims to downtown street festivals.
Local markets and shows give small businesses and makers a real boost.
Planning one or two local outings now makes December feel less rushed and more fun.
📰 Town News
Changes Coming to Recycling: New Blue Box Program Launching Early 2026
The Town of Georgina has announced that residential Blue Box recycling will shift to a new producer-run system beginning the week of January 5, 2026.
📍 This includes new blue carts, updated sorting rules, and bi-weekly pickup for many households.
💬 Why it matters:
This is one of the biggest waste-collection changes residents will see in years — and it affects every home in Georgina. Sharing early updates helps families prepare for new carts, schedules, and what can/can’t go in the blue bin next year.
Holiday Lineup Builds: Whoville, Winter Markets & Vintage Christmas
The Town’s November and early-December calendar is all about cozy, family events:
Winter Market at The Link in Sutton (Sun Nov 16) kicked off the series, with more dates in December.
Whoville on High Street transforms downtown Sutton into a glowing, Grinchy, family street party on Sat Nov 22, 5–9 p.m.
Vintage Christmas returns to the Georgina Village Museum on Sat Nov 29, 4–7 p.m., with lights, Santa, crafts and heritage buildings lit up for the season.
💬 Why it matters:
These are the kinds of events that helped Georgina earn that “Municipality of the Year” title — low-cost, family-friendly, and very local.

🏪 Community & Business Notes
Food For Swim = Full Pool + Pantry Support
Two nights, two pools, and a lot of cans and boxes for the Georgina Food Pantry, great chance for families to combine fun with giving back.
Holiday Foot Traffic is Starting
Whoville on High Street and upcoming markets (like Vintage Christmas and more Winter Markets at The Link) mean more people wandering our downtowns and village hubs. It’s a good time for local shops, cafés, and services to:
Put out A-frame signs
Extend hours where possible
Highlight “shop local” or gift-card options
Creative Skills Are a Business Asset
That YSpace North workshop isn’t just for artists, it’s designed for business owners and professionals who want to bring new ideas into 2026 planning.
🧠 Did You Know?
Georgina’s Winter Market and holiday events (Whoville, Vintage Christmas, Santa parades and more) were key examples used when the Town was recognized as 2025 Municipality of the Year by Festivals and Events Ontario, highlighting how our events drive both community pride and economic activity.
What are you most excited for this month?

🌅 Close-out note
This week is all about the “in-between” moments, not quite December, but full of chances to gather, give back, and get out of the house. Whether you’re flexing your creativity at YSpace, cheering on Footloose, or sipping cocoa on High Street, pick one local thing and lean into it.
Bundle up, wave to a neighbour, and enjoy the early glow of Georgina’s holiday season.
