Listen, I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the post-March Break transition is the real test of endurance. I spent my entire Sunday trying to reclaim the house, which naturally spiraled into a massive decluttering mission. I spent half the weekend taking photos, writing descriptions, and fielding “Is this still available?” messages while trying to sell off our old basement furniture on Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace—mostly to clear out space for my new custom magnetic photos side hustle. The hustle never sleeps, and frankly, neither does my need for a good anti-wrinkle night cream after a weekend like that.
But we march forward. The kids are officially back in school, the snow is rapidly turning into mud, and we are settling into the real rhythm of Spring.
The Week of the Spring Purge
This week is about resetting.
Resetting the alarm clocks now that the break is over. Resetting the mudroom to handle the incoming slush. And resetting your expectations for how clean your car's floor mats will be for the next month.
💡Why it matters
Week Two at the New Civic Centre: The Town's new facility is officially humming along.
Summer Camp Rush is Coming: It's time to start planning your July and August childcare coverage.
Maple Syrup Season is Peaking: The sap is flowing and local farms are gearing up for big weekend crowds.
📰 Town News & Civic Updates
🏢 Settling into the Replacement Civic Centre

Town of Georgina Civic Centre
We are officially in week two of operations at the Town of Georgina Civic Centre Click to open side panel for more information . A quick reminder to anyone heading over this week to pay bills or access Service Georgina: make sure you use the new driveway entrance located immediately south of the building to access the visitor lot!
🏕️ Summer Camp Registration is Approaching!
Don't let the slush fool you; summer is right around the corner. The Town of Georgina's summer day camp preview will be dropping soon. Whether you're looking to enroll the kids in the ROC adventure camps, swimming, or arts and crafts, spots always fill up incredibly fast. Start planning your summer schedules now so you are ready the second the registration portal opens!
🧊 The Ice Hut Aftermath
The official MNRF deadline to remove all ice huts from Lake Simcoe was last Sunday. A huge thank you to the local anglers who safely removed their structures before the ice started getting sketchy this week. As the melt continues, please be cautious of changing ice conditions if you are walking near the shoreline, and remind kids and pets to stay off the ice entirely.
🌷 Spring Yard Waste: Hold the Bags!
With the snow rapidly disappearing, the temptation to start raking is real. However, the Town’s bi-weekly Spring Yard Waste collection won’t officially begin until the week of April 13. Keep those kraft bags in the garage or the backyard for a few more weeks so they don't disintegrate in the spring rain.
🧹 Street Sweeping Operations
As the snowbanks recede, all that leftover winter sand is starting to show. Town crews will soon begin their annual street sweeping blitz to clean up our roads and prevent the sand from washing into the storm drains. Keep an eye out for the sweepers in your neighborhood over the coming weeks!

🌱 Garden Centres are Gearing Up: The ground might be frozen solid, but our local garden centres and nurseries are already receiving their early spring shipments. It’s a great week to stop by your local hardware or garden store to grab your seed-starting kits before the weekend crowds wipe them out.
