Listen, I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the late-February slump is real. Between the windburn from last week's snowstorm and the sheer stress of navigating pothole season on Woodbine, I’m seriously considering investing in some industrial-grade anti-wrinkle cream just to look at my own reflection. And don't even get me started on early spring cleaning. I spent half of Sunday trying to take decent, well-lit photos of an old coffee table to put on Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji, only to realize I was essentially setting up a high-fashion glamour shoot for scratched particle board. The local resale market is ruthless.

But we push forward. Because this weekend? We finally get to party.

The Week of Redemption

This week is about second chances.

A second chance at a community festival. A second chance for your car's suspension to survive the commute. And a second chance to enjoy winter before everything turns into a giant mud puddle.

💡Why it matters

  • SnoFest is happening: The highly anticipated makeup date is this Saturday.

  • Pothole patrols are out: The Town is asking residents to report craters.

  • A new local business grant just opened up for Georgina entrepreneurs.

📰 Town News & Community Updates

📅 SnoFest: Take Two (And this time, it's personal)

Mother Nature blew us out on February 7th, but she can't keep a good town down. SnoFest is officially a go for this Saturday, February 28. Expect all the classics: the pancake breakfast, the ice carving demonstrations, tube races at The ROC, and enough hot chocolate to send your kids into a low-earth orbit. The weather is actually looking cooperative this time, so grab the snow pants and get out there.

🚗 Pothole Season is officially open

With the wild freeze-thaw cycles we had last week, the roads are fighting back. Town crews are currently out doing "cold patch" repairs on the worst offenders across Keswick, Sutton, and Pefferlaw.

If you hit a crater that feels like it just realigned your spine, don't just yell at your steering wheel—report it. The Town has a dedicated portal for road issues, and they actually use the data to prioritize patching routes.

💰 New $5,000 Micro-Grants for Local Businesses

Good news for the side-hustlers and main-street heroes. The York Region Small Business Enterprise Centre (YSBEC) has just rolled out the Starter Company Plus program for 2026. Eligible small businesses in Georgina can apply for a grant of up to $5,000 to help with digital marketing, storefront improvements, or new equipment. Applications close in mid-March, so get your paperwork together now.

What this means for your week

  • SnoFest is a Go: Saturday's weather is genuinely perfect for an outdoor winter festival. Grab the snow pants!

  • Car Wash Alert: With temperatures hovering right around the freezing mark all week, your car is going to be coated in that signature Georgina salt and slush. Friday might be the safest day to finally run it through the wash.

🌅 Close-out note

This is it, Georgina. The final push of February.

Next week, we turn the calendar over to March, which means we can officially start pretending spring is just around the corner (even though we know it’s a trap).

Get out to SnoFest, support the local vendors, and have a great weekend.
