Good morning, Georgina!
"HOW DOES A SINGLE, PRISTINE 1996 ROLLERBLADE END UP IN A BUSH OFF LAKE DRIVE?" - A very confused local resident (me).
I was out participating in Pitch-In Week yesterday, doing my civic duty, when I uncovered the lone blade. Where is the other one? Did someone blade directly into Lake Simcoe and swim away? I stood there for 45 minutes demanding answers from the sky until my family got embarrassed and walked home.
Spring mysteries aside, the town is looking cleaner by the minute. Let’s get into it.
The Local Rundown
What you need to know this week in 2 minutes or less.
🌊 High water warning: The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) has issued a shoreline hazard watch. Lake levels are sitting well above average due to last week's heavy rain. Stay clear of fast-moving streams and low-lying areas.
🍅 More green space: Town Council just inked a deal with the ClearWater Futures Foundation to turn two parcels of land at 1614 Metro Rd. N. into community gardens for growing local fruits and veggies.
🗳️ Election countdown: Thinking of running for office? The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal Election officially opens next week on Friday, May 1. This is the first day to file papers for Mayor, Councillor, or School Board Trustee.
❤️ Be a Donor: Town Council has officially proclaimed April 2026 as "Be A Donor Month" in Georgina to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation. Take two minutes to check your status here.
The Local Hustle: Business & Growth
Where the money (and the jobs) are moving.
🛠️ Milwaukee Tool is moving in: Big news for local employment—global power tool giant Milwaukee Tool is setting up a massive 54,000 sq. ft. Service Hub right in the Keswick Business Park. This cements Georgina’s position as a growing hub for logistics and service operations.
🤝 Network like a pro: Tomorrow night (April 21) is April BreakNet. Sponsored by Kitchens Renewed Ltd., it's the premier networking event of the month. Swap leads, eat good food, and build your local empire. RSVP here.
🎪 Claim your booth: Registration is officially open for the 2026 Discover Georgina Show (happening May 2-3). If you run a local business, this is your shot to get in front of the entire municipality. Booths will sell out. Register here.
